Official Minutes
Date: Wednesday October 9, 2004

7:10pm - Opening Prayer Rob Kubasko
7:20pm - President Neil Urban welcomed the Council.
Neil welcomed Billie Young to the Council membership.
Minutes were approved.
7:15pm - Pastor's Report: Fr. Chuck Kieffer
- Fr Chuck reported on the status of the remodeling projects: Baptistry work is in progress. Unforeseen electrical issues are being dealt with in baptistery area; conduits are being re routed. The installation of the security gates are in progress.
- Council members reported positive feedback from the site maps, design and placement sketches that were mailed to the membership and those posted on the bulletin board.
- God and Coffee went well with many questions of a political bent.
- Safe Environment Training (SET) going well. Parish SET dates as well as Diocesan sites and dates are posted in the Sunday bulletin.
- In this Year of the Eucharist, GIRM guidelines will be reviewed at Mass and any remaining norms will be implemented if deemed necessary by Bp. Olmsted
- Structural changes under the new leadership continue to occur at the Diocesan level, e.g. the transition from regional Vicariates to Deaneries. Further information will be shared with the Council as it is received.
7:45pm - Old Business
- Adult Education Ministry: Fr. Nick
Fr. Nick reported on progress with adult education series. November 08, 2004 will be Paul Dupree. Father is working with the Bob Wall Family and with Whitney-Murphy on “will planning.” Father is working with Dominic Biese for the week of Ash Wednesday, 2005 and possibly Fr Tom Allender,
- WebSite:
Rob Kubasko reported no problems. Many positive comments on the extensiveness of the WebSite and that it is 'user friendly'.
8:05pm - New Business
- Council Retreat: Neil Urban
After discussion, the Council agreed on January 12, 2005 6pm for the Council's mini retreat. This will include dinner. Neil will develop the plan for the evening.
- Ministry fair coming up - council members will submit the times they can attend and represent the council.
- 8:10pm Observation that some members of Life Teen seek the sacrament of confirmation at other churches. Discussion followed regarding the tenor and differences in Life Teen format as well as the processes involved with preparation for confirmation.
- 8:15pm Evangelization: Neil Urban asked members to brainstorm on how to make various ministries more inviting. Discussion focused on various approaches and a strong suggestion was made to perhaps seek a testimonial on the personal benefits of participating in a ministry. Neil asked council members to think on this for next meeting.
- 8:45pm Employment Ministry: Terez Sanguine reported on the history of the project which is now in limbo. Terez will provide a written summary of activities, and the original goals of the project for discussion in November meeting.
- Neil Urban presented a request for the council to discuss the future of the Seder Meal. This is a very popular event and currently rests with the leadership of one or two people. After discussion Neil will seek information on the operations of the event for council consideration. Discussion will continue at November council meeting.
- Fr. Chuck read a letter and request from Fr. Fred requesting requesting financial support ($4000.00) for the ministry of Sister Guadalupe Magana, H.J. who ministers to Catholics in the remote regions of the diocese north of the Grand Canyon. Discussion ensued over possibility of a 2nd collection. Council agreed that there are already 13 and supported a donation from the general fund. Council also requested progress reports at various intervals.
